How to Set Up a Pigment Connection
Pigment is a modern business planning platform that allows teams to collaborate on financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting. Nexadata supports direct integration with Pigment, enabling users to seamlessly move data between Nexadata and Pigment.
Here are the key features:
Secure Key-Based Authentication: Easily connect by providing your Pigment API keys.
Support for Multiple Operations: Configure separate keys for importing, exporting, metadata access, and audit operations.
Connection Testing: Validate each key individually before finalizing the setup.
Follow the steps below to create your Pigment connection.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Add a Connection
From the Nexadata home screen, click the Create a Connection tile or navigate to Setup → Connections → and select the ⨁ button in the upper right-hand corner.
The Create New Connection form will display.
Provide a unique Name for your Pigment connection. This name should clearly identify the connection within your organization.
Select Pigment as the Connection Type from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Enter Your Pigment API Keys
You will need to provide the following keys:
Import Key: This key is used for importing data into Pigment from Nexadata.
Export Key: This key is used for exporting data from Pigment to Nexadata.
Metadata Key: This key provides access to Pigment metadata, such as models, dimensions, and structure.
Audit Key: This key allows Nexadata to retrieve audit logs and activity data from Pigment.
👀 Ensure your API keys are active and scoped with the correct permissions for each respective operation.
Step 3: Test Your Keys
Next to each key field, click the Test button to verify that the key is valid and has the appropriate permissions.
Successful tests will confirm that the key is ready for use.
If a test fails, double-check that you copied the correct key and that it has the required access in Pigment.
Testing your keys helps avoid connection errors during data operations.
Step 4: Submit the Connection
Once all keys are successfully tested and validated:
Click the Submit button to finalize your Pigment connection.
⚠️ Each key must be entered into its corresponding field. All keys are required for the Pigment integration to function properly.
Your Pigment connection should now be active and ready to use within your Nexadata data workflows! Now learn how to use the Pigment Connection.
Important Notes
API keys should be kept secure and rotated periodically according to your organization’s security policies.
If your Pigment keys are updated or revoked, you will need to update the connection settings in Nexadata accordingly.
Different operations (Import, Export, Metadata, Audit) can use different keys or the same key, depending on your Pigment account configuration.
