This article outlines how to diagnose and resolve common issues when using the Anaplan connection in Nexadata. It includes both dataset creation and output configuration errors, offering solutions based on integration behavior and known platform constraints.

Common Issues and How to Fix Them

1. Authentication Failure

Problem:
When testing the connection or submitting a dataset, you receive an "Authentication failed" or "Invalid credentials" error.

Solution:

  • Confirm that the username and password are correct and belong to a valid Anaplan user.

  • Ensure that the account has access to the Workspace and Model.

  • Clear any saved credentials and reauthenticate in Nexadata.

Tip: Use a dedicated integration user account with full access to reduce permission conflicts.

2. Missing Workspaces, Models, Actions, or Processes

Problem:
Your expected Workspace, Model, Action, or Process does not appear in the selection dropdowns during dataset creation.

Solution:

  • Log in to Anaplan with the same credentials and ensure the user has access to the Workspace and Model.

  • Confirm that the Action or Process is correctly configured in Anaplan and available to the user.

3. Output Upload to Anaplan Fails

Problem:
When using Anaplan as a Pipeline output, the upload Process fails.

Solution:

  • Verify that the selected Data Source in Anaplan exists and is properly configured.

  • Make sure the user account has permission to upload to the Data Source.

  • For "Upload and Import", confirm that the Import Action maps to the correct Data Source using column validation.

Tip: Start with "Upload Only" to confirm connectivity before moving to action-based workflows.

4. Import Action Fails or Is Incomplete

Problem:
Anaplan Import Action runs but fails to import data or skips rows.

Solution:

  • Enable column validation in Nexadata to ensure the dataset matches Anaplan's expected structure.

  • Confirm column names and order match the target import mapping.

  • Check Anaplan's import error logs for row-level issues.

Tip: Use a test file in Anaplan first to validate column mapping before switching to Nexadata output.

5. Process Does Not Execute

Problem:
You select "Upload and Process" but the Anaplan Process does not run as expected.

Solution:

  • Verify that the Process includes at least one valid action at the beginning (such as an import).

  • If recently updated, refresh the integration and reconfigure the Process output in Nexadata.

Tip: For stability, use Processes that start with harmless Import Actions to ensure initialization.

6. Integration Locks or Workspace Freezes

Problem:
Your Anaplan Workspace becomes unresponsive during a Pipeline run.

Solution:

  • Avoid running multiple large integrations at the same time.

  • Space out Pipeline schedules to reduce contention.

  • Run the Process manually in Anaplan to isolate potential lock sources.

Tip: Monitor performance during off-peak hours to reduce impact on shared Models.

Best Practices:

  • Use consistent naming conventions for datasets, Data Sources, and Actions to reduce misconfiguration.

  • Always test with a small volume of data before scaling up to full-size integrations.

  • Work closely with your Anaplan administrator to ensure Import Actions and Processes are set up for API use.

  • Keep the upload chunk size at the default 10 MB unless you experience performance issues, in which case you may experiment with increasing or decreasing it.

When to Contact Support

If you’ve tried the above steps and still encounter issues:

  • Collect any error messages you received.

  • Note which keys or operations are failing.

  • Provide the approximate time of failure (helpful for log tracing).

Then reach out to Nexadata Support with this information for faster resolution. We have extensive experience with Anaplan integration and would be happy to help.
